Kim Tae-ri Clears Up Iconic ‘Lion Statue Meme’: “I’m Still Extremely Introverted”
On May 24, the YouTube channel “Netflix Korea” released a video featuring lead actors Kim Tae-ri and Hong Kyung from Lost in Starlight joining Yoo Byung-jae and Jonathan for a talk.
Known for her many hobbies, Kim Tae-ri shared, “I have hobbies when I have energy, and none when I don’t. Gaming is one of my hobbies. Lately, I’ve been into a fantasy role-playing game called Baldur’s Gate.”
She also revealed her deep interest in birdwatching, going so far as to describe her detailed observation techniques.
“You need binoculars first. They come in various price ranges. But I have a thing for gear. I started with a cheap one, like tens of thousands of won. The moment you hang it around your neck, it lifts your mood. You go outside with it, walk around, and listen carefully. If you hear a chirp, you stop and look behind you. Then you hold your breath. You observe the tree closely. The birds move quietly. Then you follow their movement,” she explained vividly, drawing everyone in.
Midway through the video, a caption reading “Kim Tae-ri, the unusually introverted college student” appeared, referencing the now-famous photo of her sitting atop the lion statue at her alma mater.
Addressing the photo, Kim Tae-ri said, “It’s actually really high up. There was a rumor that if you climbed it, you’d get into a campus couple (CC) relationship. But I didn’t care about any of that—I was fearless, so I just climbed it.”
When Yoo Byung-jae asked “Were you really introverted?”, Kim Tae-ri firmly responded, “I’m extremely introverted. Still am.” Her self-assessment, which contrasted with her consistently bright and lively image throughout the day, puzzled Jonathan, while Yoo Byung-jae jokingly added “I’m not so sure”, making everyone laugh.
Through this playful yet revealing chat, Kim Tae-ri once again proved her charm lies in her candid personality and unique quirks.
